The story is he was bothered by how much knitting his wife, Sarah, had to do (she knitted to earn money) and invented the machine so she could spend more time with him.<BR/><BR/>I saw a steam powered knitting machine invented in the 1800's by an American (who's name escapes me at the moment) once in a museum. It was a double bed machine, much like the Passap.<BR/><BR/>My favorite invention of the 20th century is duct tape. Heh heh....
