In progress: Recycled carrier bag

Recycled carrier bag

Made with loops from cut-up carrier bags. Crochet this "plarn" is far easier than knitting it - with knitting, you have the combined friction of every stitch slowing you down. Still hard-work on the hands, and crochet uses a lot more carrier bags, but it's growing a lot faster than the knitted one did. Spot the well-known UK supermarket that has not swapped to degradeable bags...

I found this pattern online, but somehow skipped the last decrease round so am working on 50sts not 60. I also somehow slipped into crocheting in a spiral. But I guess it won't really matter in the grand scheme of things! It kind of looks like raffia, until you get really close.
